The Lineup!

The closer we get to the actual performances, the more exciting it is to plan this event. We spend months hunting down acts, planning what will take place in each of the buildings on campus, and then hoping for the right weather that will make it all perfect. Right now, we are thrilled to have some fabulous acts on our schedule and are waiting to hear about more.

  • Jaafar is an Asian fusian band with Middle Eastern roots. Check them out here.
  • Downtown Senate from High Point, NC will be with us, as well, and will bring their unique sound to PCC's quad during the day.
  • Flamenco Vivo, a flamenco dance group based in North Carolina and New York, will share both an educational session about the Spanish dance, as well as a performance. Several Oriental musical groups are in the process of finalizing their place on the schedule.
  • A Latin jazz group, headed by Chris Bennett, classical guitarist, will entertain in the afternoon.
  • In addition to music and dance, we will have storyteller Fred Motley on hand, potter Shirley Cadmus will demonstrate her art, author Dawn Shamp will read from and sign copies of her book about Roxboro entitled On Account of Conspicuous Women and members of the Art Guild of Person County will draw portraits of festival-goers.
  • PCC Fine Arts instructors, who are known throughout the country and the world for their own specialties, will show prospective students and the community what to expect from their classes. MUSIC: Listen to Panos Messis (choral instructor and pianist) and Mary Ann Nilsson (music instructor and pianist) on their pianos. Enjoy Michael Thompson's (guitar and banjo instructor) virtuoso guitar and banjo.
  • FILM: Participate with Michael Corbett's Film/Video students as YOU are the star of the movie. In addition, films made by PCC's students will be running throughout the day.
  • DANCE: Learn about contemporary dance with dancer/choreographer Joan Wiegers (dance instructor).
  • ART: Justin Crosby, our full-time art instructor, will display his work, as will adjunct instructors Amy Levine and Nathaniel Hester. Stay tuned as we continue to update the schedule and add more information!
